Members of the Iranian Parliament voted to close the Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian parliament considers it necessary to block the Strait of Hormuz after the US strikes on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities. This was announced on June 22 by MP Ismail Kousari.
"The parliament has come to the conclusion that the Strait of Hormuz should be closed, but the final decision remains with the Supreme National Security Council," Press TV quoted him as saying.
Earlier in the day, Igor Yushkov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia that Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz threatens a global energy crisis. According to him, approximately 25% of the world's oil passes through the strait every day, as well as about 30% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from around the world.
Later, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance said that the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz could turn into economic suicide for Iran. He stressed that the strait is of critical importance for the economy of the Islamic Republic.
On June 22, US President Donald Trump announced that the US attack was aimed at three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. According to him, the operation was successful. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that American strikes could change history.
