Vance called the closure of the Strait of Hormuz a suicidal step for Iran.

The potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz could turn into economic suicide for Iran. This was stated on June 22 by Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance in an interview with NBC News.

"All their economic activities are carried out through the Strait of Hormuz. If they want to destroy it and cause a global crisis, it will be their decision. But why would they do that? That would be suicide," Vance said.

In addition, he warned the Iranian authorities against responding forcefully to the US strikes, calling it a "catastrophic mistake" and "the stupidest decision" Iran could make.

Vance also said that the United States wants peace with Iran "in the context of their lack of a nuclear weapons program." According to him, the United States did not "blow up" diplomacy, they blamed Iran for not giving diplomacy a "real chance."
