An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 was recorded near the coast of the Japanese island of Hokaido. This was reported on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center on June 22.
According to him, the epicenter of the seismic event was located 173 km east of the city of Kushiro with a population of about 150 thousand people. The earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km.
There was no information about casualties or damage, and no tsunami threat was announced.

Earlier in the day, the website of the Institute of Geophysics of Ecuador reported an earthquake in the country with a magnitude of 5.5. Its source lay at a depth of 45.5 km and was located near the city of Naranjal in the province of Guayas.
