- The Federation Council pointed to the inability of European politicians to help Ukraine
Ukraine is withdrawing from the current NATO agenda, but European politicians cannot do anything about it due to a possible conflict with US President Donald Trump. This was announced on June 21 by Alexei Pushkov, a member of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council.
"Ukraine is getting off the NATO agenda. European leaders are gnashing their teeth, but there is nothing they can do. Trump does not want to discuss Ukraine, and no one dares to impose this topic on him," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
The senator noted that the planned NATO summit could end with Trump leaving it ahead of schedule, as was the case with the meeting of representatives of the G7 countries. According to Pushkov, the US president is "tired" of European allies, who "for their part, cannot stand him."
The Guardian newspaper reported on June 17 that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may not attend the NATO summit in The Hague due to the likelihood that Trump will not attend the meeting. According to the publication, the Ukrainian side at the upcoming summit of the alliance may become the subject of "insufficient attention from Trump."
