The Iranian Foreign Minister announced his possible meeting with Putin next week.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi intends to visit Moscow on Monday, June 23, to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated this in an interview with NBC News on June 20.
"He (Araghchi — Ed.) said that he was going to come to Moscow on Monday to meet with Vladimir Putin," the newspaper's journalist Andrea Mitchell reported.
The Iranian foreign minister also noted that Tehran is not sure that it will be able to trust Washington in the future after the Israeli attack, which took place a couple of days before the alleged negotiations with the United States. He suggested that the American side used diplomacy as a "cover" for the impending attack.
"Maybe they had this plan in their head, and they just needed negotiations to hide it. <...> We don't know how we can trust them anymore. What they did was actually a betrayal of diplomacy," he said.
Responding to Mitchell's question about whether a deal with the United States could be reached within a two-week period, Araqchi replied that the administration of US President Donald Trump should "demonstrate its determination" to resolve the current situation through negotiations.
On the same day, Araqchi noted the readiness of the Iranian government to negotiate with Israel if their air attacks stop and if "aggression is stopped and the aggressor is held accountable for the crimes he committed."
