Over the past 24 hours, 296 road accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 20 people were killed and 338 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on June 20 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. 17 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles, the ministry said.

As a result of 66 accidents, 26 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 40 outside their area of operation, three pedestrians were killed, and another 65 were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 15 underage pedestrians, nine of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.

15 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 15 more, including one child, required medical attention. Ten bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

Over the past day, 43 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads, as a result of which 47 young road users were injured, including 19 passengers, three cyclists and nine motor transport drivers under the age of 16. One child driver was killed.

An accident involving a dead teenager occurred in the Moscow region on the Kolomna—Ozery — Bolshoe Karasevo regional highway. A 13-year-old schoolboy, driving a passenger car with winter tires installed on it without a driver's license, lost control and overturned on the roadway. he overturned a vehicle on the roadway. The teenager died.

In the Tver region, a passenger car driver drove off the road, crashed into a sand shaft and overturned. As a result of the accident, the motorist was killed.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate urges parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel of vehicles on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motor vehicles without the appropriate right and driving skills.

"We draw the attention of parents to a fine of 30,000 rubles for allowing children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category to drive cars and motor vehicles," said Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

He also recommended that motorists be more careful on the roads of towns and cities in the summer, when children spend a lot of time outside. Special care should be taken when driving through courtyards, crossing intersections, and approaching pedestrian crossings.

"Driver's discipline is especially necessary if there are child passengers in the car, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements," Hrantskevich stressed.

Earlier on June 20, it became known that a passenger car crashed into a traffic light in Ufa. According to preliminary data, five people were injured in the accident, and another died.
