Russia can help Africa use its natural resources thanks to advanced technologies and expertise. Louis Gouend, head of the Cameroonian diaspora in Russia and chairman of the African Business Club, told Izvestia on June 18 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"We have a lot of resources in Africa, but we don't have the technology or knowledge to exploit them. Therefore, we think that Russia can become a partner in this regard to help us use our resources," he said.

Gowend added that Russian-African relations are developing in the right direction, because Africa needs partners who are ready to build cooperation on equal terms.

"We have worked a lot with Western companies, but I cannot say that we are completely satisfied with our cooperation with them. That's why we're looking for alternatives," he explained.

Earlier, on May 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Russian Federation would continue to assist African countries in ensuring food security. In addition, he stressed that Russia would also strengthen Africa's position as an original and influential center of global development.
