The US Film Academy awarded actor Tom Cruise an honorary Oscar


American actor, director and producer Tom Cruise will be awarded the Oscar for outstanding achievements in cinematography this year. This was reported on June 18 by Variety magazine with reference to the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
American actress and dancer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas will also receive honorary awards. In addition, the Gene Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be presented to singer and film actress, 79-year-old Dolly Parton.
"This year, the Board of Governors of the Film Academy will celebrate four legendary personalities whose outstanding careers and commitment to cinema continue to leave a lasting mark," said Academy President Janet Yang.
Oscar statuettes will be presented at the 16th annual Governors Awards ceremony on November 16.
On April 10, the Los Angeles Times reported that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the introduction of a new nomination for the main national Academy Award in the United States for achievements in the field of stunt art. It was specified that the first award in the corresponding nomination will be presented in 2028 at the 100th Academy Awards ceremony, which will be dedicated to films released in 2027.
