Monument to "Metro Builders of Russia" to be erected in Moscow

A monument to the "Metro Builders of Russia" will be erected on Sokolnicheskaya Square in Moscow. This was announced on Tuesday, June 17, by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in his Telegram channel.

"The monument will be located in a park near Rusakovskaya Street, where construction of the first stage of the Moscow Metro began in December 1931 in the courtyard of house 13. Work is currently underway on the design and manufacture of the monument," the Moscow City News Agency quoted Sobyanin as saying.

The composition will depict metro builders of the 1930s and modern times, placed in a niche resembling a tunnel, against the background of the Metrostroy emblem, writes Moscow 24. A map of Moscow in 1935 with the first metro scheme will be created on the reverse side of the monument. The project is planned to be completed in 2025, the website clarifies. kp.ru .

On June 10, Sobyanin spoke about the use of domestic equipment in the construction of the subway. Russian information modeling technologies are used for station projects at all stages of implementation, including preparation of design and working documentation, construction and commissioning.
