- The orientalist pointed to Israel's unwillingness to have intermediaries in the conflict with Iran.

Israel does not need mediation from Russia and China to resolve the conflict with Iran. Grigory Lukyanov, senior lecturer at the Higher School of Economics and researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Izvestia on June 17.
This is how the expert commented on the statement by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who said that only Russian leader Vladimir Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping can stop the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran.
According to the orientalist, Maduro's position is understandable, given Venezuela's active cooperation with Russia and China. Lukyanov stressed that these countries are striving to increase their role in international affairs and conflict resolution, but the situation with Israel and Iran is much more complicated.
"Of course, the active participation of Russia and China in mediation efforts in the negotiation processes could positively affect Iran's confidence in these negotiation initiatives, since Iran's cooperation with these countries is quite complex and based on a certain mutual understanding and respect. On the other hand, it should be understood that the opposite country, especially in the person of Israel, is not interested in establishing any agreement, and its goal is primarily to inflict maximum damage on Iran and continue the confrontational model of relations," the expert said.
In addition, Lukyanov pointed out that even as permanent members of the UN Security Council, Russia and China face restrictions due to the influence of the United States, which uses its veto power to block anti-Israel resolutions. In this regard, he said that a more effective way to reduce tensions is to involve regional players such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Turkey.
"The task of Russia, China, as well as other participants in international world politics, is to constructively promote regional initiatives rather than hinder them, which generally fits into the Venezuelan leadership's vision of a new world order in which the role of the countries of the Global South and the so-called world majority should objectively grow, commensurate with their place in the population structure. countries and roles in the global economy," the orientalist emphasized.
On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia sees Israel's unwillingness to peacefully resolve the conflict with Iran. He also recalled that Putin had expressed his willingness to provide mediation services in the Iran-Israel conflict, if necessary.
