Doctor Kurenkov estimated the probability of maintaining vision without glasses

Ophthalmic surgeon, MD, Professor Vyacheslav Kurenkov said that some people can do without glasses with age-related visual impairment due to the natural mechanisms of adaptation of the body.
In conversation with aif.ru On June 15, the specialist noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying that he does not wear glasses, is most likely dealing with presbyopia, an age—related visual impairment that reduces the ability to see up close.
"Presbyopia develops in all people, both those who previously had good eyesight and those with various refractive disorders. With age, it becomes more difficult for a person to read without glasses. However, some people do without optics, for example, by enlarging the font on device screens. There are other ways to adapt. For example, my colleague, an experienced ophthalmic surgeon, despite the signs of presbyopia, did not wear glasses — his body managed to adapt," Kurenkov explained.
However, the doctor noted that this method is not suitable for everyone.
"Some people manage on their own, while others need correction. It's individual," he added.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin said that several years ago, doctors recommended glasses to him because of his deteriorating eyesight. However, the first time he used it, he felt dizzy, after which he decided to give up glasses and still reads without them, writes RT.
"I think if I don't take them off now, I'll wear them for the rest of my life," the president said. 360.ru .
Putin added that he regularly allocates two days annually for a comprehensive preventive medical examination, the website writes. kp.ru .
In early May, Putin said that he spends an hour and a half playing sports every day, IA Regnum reminds. He noted that he tries to swim in the pool and practice hockey for cardio exercises.
