Despite Iran's statements about the possibility of destroying Israel, the realization of such intentions is unlikely. This was stated on June 16 in an interview with Izvestia by Kirill Semenov, a political scientist, a specialist in the Middle East, and an expert on the INF Treaty.

"I don't think it's (total annihilation. — Ed.) achievable. This means that Iran intends to fight as long as it takes. And he does not intend to stop at anything and return to some kind of dialogue with Israel for the time being," the orientalist said.

He also stressed that threats from Iran should be treated with caution, however, there are options to overcome the current situation.

As for the potential consequences of the conflict between Iran and Israel for neighboring countries such as Lebanon and Syria, they are not currently being observed.

"I think that unless nuclear weapons are used conditionally, which no one is going to use yet, and which, apparently, Iran does not have, and should not have, then it is unlikely that the conflict will spread to these countries," Semenov added.

In addition, he commented on the country's possible withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in response to Israel's actions. According to him, no steps have been taken yet that could lead to serious consequences.

"There will be serious consequences if the answer of the supreme leader [Ali Khamenei] is canceled that Iran is prohibited from having nuclear weapons, that nuclear weapons contradict Islam. There is such a possibility, and for Iran it is precisely this that is the main deterrent to the creation of nuclear weapons, and not the non—proliferation law," the expert said.

Earlier in the day, the press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that operations against Israel would continue until its complete destruction.

The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, announced on the same day that the building of the American Embassy in Tel Aviv had received minor damage as a result of a rocket explosion fired from Iran. According to the diplomat, the U.S. Embassy and consulate in Israel will remain closed during the day. The Yediot publication also stated that the Israeli rescue service received signals about the fall of at least four rockets in the country.
