Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran on political issues, who was seriously injured in an Israeli strike, is in stable condition, the Iranian ISNA news agency reported on its Telegram channel on June 16.

"Thanks to the constant efforts of the medical staff <...>, [Shamkhani's] condition has been relatively stable since yesterday," the agency quoted the medical worker as saying.

It is clarified that it is not yet possible to make a final statement about Shamkhani's condition, given the serious injuries, mostly internal, but progress is being made in treatment.

Earlier in the day, Tasnim news agency reported that an Israeli airstrike on Zanjan province in northwestern Iran killed two soldiers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). It was noted that one of the dead was the commander of the troops of the Ijrud district.
