The State Duma of the Russian Federation will consider a bill to toughen penalties for crimes against medical workers. This was announced on June 16 by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, in a Telegram channel.

"We are introducing a bill that introduces additional qualifying criteria in order to strengthen criminal liability for persons who commit crimes against medical workers in the performance of their official duties," he wrote.

The politician clarified that health workers need effective protection against the background of "frightening law enforcement practices and statistics."

Earlier, on June 10, the State Duma approved a bill to increase fines for refusing to stop at the request of the police. The bill also provides for new measures for repeated violations. If the driver ignores the request to stop a second time, he may be deprived of his license for up to six months.
