Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he could wear glasses for vision, but refused to do so. He announced this during a meeting with the winner of the state prize, ophthalmologist-surgeon Georgy Stolyarenko.

"Five or six years ago I came to be checked. And they say to me: "0.9 has become 0.8. Here we could have such glasses." They gave me glasses. I put them on for the first time, my head was spinning, I think, well, if I don't take them off now, I'll wear them for the rest of my life," Putin is quoted as saying on the Telegram channel of journalist Pavel Zarubin.

At the same time, the head of state assured that his eyesight was always at the "one" mark. Putin stressed that even now he reads fluently without glasses.

According to the Russian leader, he undergoes a medical examination every year.

In October last year, Putin shared that he was undergoing regular medical examinations at the Central Clinical Hospital (CCB).
