Tehran is exploring the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf with the Indian Ocean and is important for oil supplies to world markets. This was announced on June 14 by Iranian MP Ismail Kousari.

"The issue of closing the Strait of Hormuz is being considered," the Rokna news agency quoted him as saying.

It is specified that Iran will make a verdict on this issue with all its determination.

Earlier in the day, Alexei Pushkov, a member of the Constitutional committee of the Federation Council, said that if Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz, the price of oil will rise to $130. According to him, even partial interruptions in oil supplies through the Persian Gulf in the context of a military conflict can lead to an increase in resource prices.
