Israeli strikes on the Fordo nuclear facility caused only limited damage, Behrouz Kamalvandi, an official representative of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said on June 14.

"We removed important equipment from Fordo before the attack," he is quoted as saying on the Quds agency's Telegram channel.

Kamalvandi also added that there was no significant damage, and there was no threat of leakage of dangerous substances.

Yesterday, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, announced that radiological and chemical contamination had been detected inside Iran's nuclear facilities in Natanz. He said that at present it is known about the destruction of two nuclear enterprises — uranium enrichment plants in Fordo and in Isfahan.

On June 13, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the task of the military operation attacks on the Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Peseshkian and Netanyahu. He stressed that the Russian side condemns Israel's actions and will contribute to de-escalating the conflict between the states.
