Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, said on Friday, June 13, that at least 78 people were killed and more than 230 injured as a result of Israeli strikes on Iran.

"At the moment, 78 people, including senior military officials, have died and more than 320 have been injured," he said at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

However, he added that the vast majority of them are civilians, including women and children.

"We unequivocally condemn the barbaric and criminal attack, a series of targeted killings committed against senior military officials, nuclear scientists and innocent civilians," he added.

He also stated that the Israeli attack was an act of state terrorism, which was carried out with the intelligence and political support of the United States.

On the same day, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency. In this regard, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to strike at Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

Later, Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian stressed that Israel would receive an "appropriate response" for the strikes, which violate international rules. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in his address to the people, said that the Iranian army would use all force to respond to Israeli attacks.
