On June 13, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Israeli attacks on Iran. This was reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"During the conversation, the crisis situation in the Middle East was discussed. At the same time, the ministers expressed extreme concern over Israel's military operation against Iran in violation of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter and called for an early de—escalation of tension in the region," the statement said.

The sides stressed the importance of turning the confrontation into a negotiation process. The ministers also agreed to continue contact, confirming the readiness of Moscow and Abu Dhabi to contribute to efforts to create conditions for moving towards peace and security in the Middle East.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran and declared a state of emergency across the country earlier in the day. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to attack Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

According to the Fars news agency, at least 78 people were killed and 329 injured in Israeli strikes on residential areas of Tehran. Another 18 people were killed in attacks on the province of East Azerbaijan.

The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli attack and pointed out that the country had violated the UN Charter. In addition, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said that the Russian Federation is concerned and condemns the sharp escalation of tension between Israel and Iran.
