The British establishment fears an alliance between Russia and the United States, so conflicts between states are beneficial to them. This was reported to Izvestia on June 13 by Harley Schlanger, a German political scientist and vice president of the Schiller Institute.

"The idea of an alliance between Russia, Europe and the United States scares them. They are afraid that such an alliance will deprive them of access to the Eurasian resources they want to seize," he said.

Europe is pleased with the conflict in Ukraine and the demographic war against the Palestinians in Gaza, as this hinders the establishment of cooperation between states, the political scientist noted.

In addition, he stressed that Israel decided to strike Iran in order to impede negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States, "and not out of fear of nuclear development." According to him, war is a way to prevent cooperation.

On June 6, Konstantin Kosachev, Vice Speaker of the Federation Council, told Izvestia that there was not the slightest doubt that the Europeans were trying to prevent the normalization of Russian-American relations.

On May 29, Reuters, citing White House officials, reported that US President Donald Trump is not losing hope that he will be able to establish economic cooperation with Moscow. According to the agency, some Republicans in the US Congress and White House advisers are calling on Trump to adopt new anti-Russian sanctions. The American leader himself has long considered them "unnecessary and often ineffective."
