Israel and Iran have closed their air spaces to civilian aircraft flights. This is reported by The New York Times (NYT) and the Ynet agency.

"The purpose of the closure is to prevent and reduce the risk to passengers and aircraft," the Israeli Ministry of Transport said in a statement.

In Iran, only the flight over Tehran was closed.

"The skies over Tehran have been cleared of civilian aircraft," the NYT reported.

As the newspaper reported, citing Iranian journalist Mohsen Salehiqah, five explosions were heard in the eastern part of the capital.

Earlier in the day, Israel launched a military strike against Iran. It is noted that in this regard, Iran's retaliatory missile and drone attack on Israel is "expected in the near future."
