Experts named the most sought-after medical professions in Russia


The need for laboratory assistants in Russia increased by 47% from January to early June 2025 compared to the same period last year. This is the largest increase among medical and pharmaceutical specialties. Analysts told Izvestia about this on June 11. hh.ru by analyzing the relevant vacancies.
In addition, the demand for chief medical officers increased by 25% and for certification specialists by 7%. Doctors of various specialties account for the majority of medical vacancies: 43%, or almost 92 thousand offers, since the beginning of the year across the country.
Junior medical staff is in second place in terms of demand (23%, or more than 48 thousand vacancies), pharmacists and pharmacists are in third (9%, or almost 19 thousand vacancies).
The median salary, which is indicated in medical vacancies, reached 78 thousand rubles, which is 16% more than in 2024. Salary offers for medical assistants increased most noticeably year-on-year (+23%, up to 63 thousand rubles), certification specialists (+23%, up to 80 thousand rubles) and veterinarians (+19%, up to 99 thousand rubles).
The most scarce medical professions in 2025 were the specialties of a doctor, pharmacist, nurse and nurse, chief physician and head of department, veterinarian and head of pharmacy. According to experts, the situation has hardly changed in this regard from year to year.
On May 16, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced that the shortage of doctors in public medical institutions by the end of 2030 is planned to be reduced by 95% of the basic deficit at the beginning of this year. He noted that the indicators of an increase in the availability of doctors amounted to at least 43 specialists per 10,000 population and an average of 85 doctors per 10,000 population.
