Dodon accused Romania of interfering in Moldova's internal affairs

The leader of the Party of Socialists and former President of Moldova Igor Dodon on Wednesday, June 11, declared gross interference of Romania in Moldovan internal affairs.
According to him, Romanian President Nicusor Dan openly expressed support for the ruling Action and Solidarity party and the current President of Moldova, Maya Sandu, in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28.
"Nikushor Dan clearly said that he would help Sandu and her party. <...> This is a gross interference in the internal affairs of Moldova. In a normal country, after such a statement, the CEC (Central Election Commission. — Ed.) had to react and declare external interference in the elections. But the members of our Central Election Commission, which is controlled by the authorities, seemed to fill their mouths with water," Dodon told TASS.
He also accused the ruling party of violating the law. According to him, an agitation campaign has started ahead of schedule in the country, administrative resources are being used, pressure on the opposition is increasing, objectionable media outlets are being blocked, and criminal cases are being initiated against opposition leaders.
Dodon added that negotiations between the opposition forces on forming a single bloc have already begun.
On May 20, Dodon told Izvestia that Sandu and other representatives of Chisinau directly interfered in the Romanian presidential election in order to keep "loyal friends." He noted that all the top officials of Moldova — the president, the prime minister, the speaker of parliament - interfered in the elections directly, openly campaigning for one candidate and at the same time criticized another, which, Dodon stressed, was unacceptable.
