Fico ruled out Slovakia's support for anti-Russian sanctions

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Tuesday, June 10, that the country would not support a new package of European Union (EU) sanctions against Russia.
"The Slovak Republic will not support the upcoming 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation," the Prime Minister wrote on his Facebook page (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
Fico added that in order to change Slovakia's position, the European Commission must provide it with a realistic solution to a possible crisis situation after the complete cessation of gas, oil and nuclear fuel supplies from Russia.
On June 9, Politico newspaper, citing sources, reported that the European Union may vote on the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions in the near future. It is specified that if the United States confirms at the meeting of the leaders of the Group of Seven its readiness for a coordinated approach to the issue of sanctions, then a vote on the next package may take place as early as June 20.
