The global birth rate has dropped to an unprecedented level. Millions of people are unable to conceive a child due to economic and social problems. This was announced on June 10 in a report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The researchers analyzed the fertility plan for 14,000 children in 14 countries, which account for a third of the world's population, including the United States, India, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, Mexico, Germany and other countries. The study affected people who have low, medium, and high income levels.

The survey, prepared by the researchers, involved young people, people of unproductive age. One in five stated that they could not have the desired number of children. Among the reasons, people cited financial difficulties, high cost of living, difficulties in child care and employment for women, ineffective demographic policy, health problems and political instability.

"The majority of respondents want to have two or more children. Fertility rates are falling largely because many feel unable to create the families they want. And this is a real crisis," said Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of UNFPA, quoted by the BBC.

Earlier, on April 29, American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk called the demographic crisis the biggest problem of modern China. According to him, this also applies to every state.
