The lingering nostalgia for former President Barack Obama among the leadership of the US Democratic Party and its rank-and-file supporters indicates a deep crisis of its political strength. This opinion was shared by columnists of The Washington Post (WP) on June 10.

"The fact that so many years after he left the White House, Obama is still the man most party members need is a damning sign for Democrats," the publication noted.

According to the newspaper's columnists, the Democrats consider Obama capable of opposing US President Donald Trump on many issues, including attacks on the social security system, the US position in the world, and others.

It clarifies that Democrats have been remembering Obama for the past ten years since he left office, but now their nostalgia has reached a new peak.

It is also noted that after Trump's election, the Democratic Party was unable to oppose him with other charismatic leaders who could oppose Trump and gather supporters around them.

On April 6, Al Green, a member of the American Congress from the Democratic Party, announced at a rally called "Hands Off!" on April 5 that he would initiate impeachment proceedings against Trump within 30 days. On the same day, large demonstrations began in the United States against the policies of the American president and the imposition of import duties.
