Ex-Romanian President Iliescu hospitalized in Bucharest
Former Romanian President Ion Iliescu was admitted to a Bucharest hospital amid deteriorating health conditions. This was reported on June 10 by Digi24 TV channel, citing sources.
"Ion Iliescu Bal has been placed in the intensive care unit at the metropolitan clinical hospital," the article says.
According to the Romanian Intelligence Service, the former head of state went to the hospital on Monday, June 9, amid deteriorating health due to breathing problems. It is specified that at the moment, Iliescu is receiving the necessary medical care and undergoing diagnostic procedures.
Iliescu became president of Romania in December 1989 after the collapse of the totalitarian regime of the previous head of state Nicolae Ceausescu.
On March 6, it was reported that the President of South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, had been hospitalized in a medical facility in Vladikavkaz. According to media reports, he was hospitalized with a suspected heart attack. A spokeswoman declined to comment on his health condition at the time.
