Moscow has contacts with Washington, and Russian President Vladimir Putin resolves current issues with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, if necessary. This was announced on June 10 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"We have working contacts with Washington, with representatives of the Trump team, and if necessary, the presidents themselves carry out direct contacts and discuss pressing issues," he said, answering a question about Trump's possible withdrawal from negotiations on Ukraine.

Peskov added that negotiations between the presidents take place constantly and help countries understand each other's positions in order to move on.

Foreign Policy magazine reported on June 9 that Trump may refuse to mediate in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to the newspaper, the US president may accuse the parties of refusing to listen to him and withdraw from the negotiation process.
