- Since the beginning of the year, more than 700 people have died in reservoirs in Russia.

Since the beginning of the year, 756 people have died on water bodies in Russia, 62 of them children. This was announced on June 10 by Alexander Nesterov, Deputy Head of the Department of Regulatory Legal Support and Long-term Development of the Department of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, at the Izvestia press center during a press conference "Safety at water bodies on the eve of the bathing season."
According to him, among accidents on water bodies, 60% of adults died due to swimming in unequipped places. 30% swam under the influence of alcohol, and 10% of the victims could not swim.
"If we are talking about the death of children, then the priority here is the abandonment of children without parental supervision. Somewhere it takes approximately 55%. Swimming in unequipped places accounts for about 30%, if we are talking about child deaths, and 15% is the inability of children to swim," Nesterov added.
He also noted that 1,016 incidents have been recorded since the beginning of the year (the data also includes the winter period). Since June 1, there have already been 133 incidents.
Earlier, on May 29, survival expert Eduard Khalilov spoke about the safety rules when staying near the water. He stressed that the main rule is not to abuse alcohol. Every time people who drink in nature, the threshold of alertness decreases, the feeling of fear disappears.
