Apple unveiled a major iOS update at the annual WWDC 2025 conference
Apple on Monday, June 9, held the first day of the annual WWDC 2025 (Worldwide Developers Conference. — Ed.), where it introduced new versions of its operating systems. The broadcast was conducted on the company's YouTube channel.
Apple has officially changed its approach to naming its operating systems (OS) — the serial number of the generation of a particular line of devices has been replaced by year-related names. Thus, following iOS 18, iOS 26 will appear for the iPhone instead of iOS 19.
The OS design has also received changes. According to the company, the new iOS design was "the most extensive interface update in the company's history." Now it is called Liquid Glass.
There is a new Games application for gamers with elements of a social network. The Camera app and the function for creating unique Genmoji emojis have also been redesigned. From now on, live translation in real time will be available in phone calls, "Messages", as well as in FaceTime.
The event will last until June 13. It takes place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California.
Earlier, on May 28, Apple shares fell by 22% since the beginning of the year. Investors are unhappy with the scandals and deception of users. The company has not fulfilled its promises to launch Apple Intelligence.
