It is necessary to increase labor productivity and increase competitiveness in foreign markets in Belarus. This was announced on June 9 by the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko.

He made this statement during a meeting with Alexey Besprozvanny, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, where issues related to the economic sector and labor productivity were discussed. According to Lukashenko, labor productivity in the European Union (EU) is now three to five times higher than in Belarus, so it is necessary to attract more labor migrants to remain competitive in the market.

"Because if we don't compete with the European Union, we have nothing to do there (in terms of trade in goods. — Ed.), especially Kaliningrad and Belarus. Because we have an economy that is common to the entire European Union. And we need to compete with them. This means that this is primarily a working person," the press service of Lukashenko quotes, the statement is published on the official website.

He added that all goods produced in Belarus are in demand, so it is necessary to solve problems with labor productivity and not create additional ones. Lukashenko stressed that the country will be able to cope with this task.

On May 23, Lukashenko announced that the volume of sales of potash fertilizers produced in the country had reached the pre-sanctions level. According to him, no restrictive measures can stop the development of the state.
