The conflict in Ukraine is a test of the U.S. commitment to normalizing relations with Russia. This was announced on June 9 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

"Given the nature and genesis of the Ukrainian crisis, provoked by the previous US authorities and the West in general, this conflict naturally acts as a test, a test that tests the seriousness of Washington's attitude towards straightening relations [with Russia]," he told TASS.

The diplomat added that a reliable military and political foundation is needed to resume a full-scale and constructive strategic dialogue with the United States. It should be built primarily in the form of a stable normalization of bilateral relations, and Washington's respect for Moscow's interests should be the basis for normalization.

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on June 8 that the dialogue between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump had led to a shift in public opinion, and the contact had become an excellent opportunity for de-escalation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 6 that it was important for Russia to maintain ties with the United States.
