During the administration of former US President Joe Biden, $300 billion was allocated for military assistance to Kiev, but this was not done with the aim of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on June 7 by Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance.

"And what happened to the Biden administration: it's crazy. They spent so much money all over the world without doing any diplomacy at all. For example, they sent $300 billion to Ukraine, but the US president never really tried to achieve a diplomatic settlement," he said in a podcast This Past Weekend.

In addition, according to Vance, the administration of US President Donald Trump is trying to bring conflicts to a settlement "whether it's Israel, Russia or Ukraine."

Rubio said on May 21 that the Biden administration had behaved irresponsibly by freezing negotiations with Russia for three years. He believes that regardless of the situation in Ukraine, communication between Washington and Moscow should be maintained at least at some level.
