- The media learned about the US warning to Britain due to the "super-dominance" of China

The United States has warned the British government against granting China permission to open an embassy in a building located near the country's important financial centers. This was reported on June 7 by The Times newspaper, citing sources.
It is noted that the plan to create a "super-kingdom" was blocked by the previous government amid warnings from British intelligence about its location and the risk of espionage, but was revived after personal lobbying by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"The United States is deeply concerned about providing China with potential access to confidential communications of one of our closest allies," the newspaper quoted the source as saying.
According to the newspaper, we are talking about the possible relocation of the Chinese Embassy to the historic Royal Mint building near the City of London, next to which important data processing centers are located. The Chinese government acquired the site next to the Royal Mint back in 2018.
American officials believe that this way China will be able to gain access to the critical communications infrastructure located underground, which will pose a threat to national security for both the UK and its allies. Moreover, the source said that China's permission to open an embassy could be regarded by the United States as an act of strategic overstrain on the part of Beijing.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on June 5 that the United States is interested in maintaining economic relations with China. According to her, Beijing needs Washington and the country's markets, while the United States also pursues a strategic interest in China's economy and market.
