NATO countries have signed a declaration on the security of the Baltic Sea

The NATO defense ministers signed a declaration on ensuring the security of the Baltic Sea. This was announced on June 5 on the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
"As the NATO summit in The Hague approaches, NATO's actions in the field of Baltic Sea security will be developed and measures to protect critical underwater infrastructure will be discussed," the ministry said.
It is noted that the agreement was signed during a meeting in Brussels. The document provides for strengthening security in the Baltic Sea through close cooperation between NATO and the European Union (EU) countries, as well as information exchange and deterrence of allegedly hostile activities in the region.
On June 4, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the alliance considers the Black and Baltic Seas as its area of responsibility. According to him, NATO will give a "devastating response" to any unforeseen circumstances in the region.
