Russia plans to deploy more than 100 satellites in orbit to control unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was announced on June 3 by the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Bakanov.
"The deployment of a satellite network in the interests of UAS management (unmanned aerial system. — Ed.) 102 plus one spacecraft (spacecraft. — Ed.)," RIA Novosti cites information that Bakanov presented at the presentation of the national space exploration project at the CIPR-2025 conference in Nizhny Novgorod.
The Strategic Council under the President will review the national project on June 10. It also includes the launch of 886 Rassvet broadband Internet satellites and 114 Earth remote sensing devices.
On March 6, the Roscosmos press service reported that the Gonets Satellite System enterprise, part of the Roscosmos state Corporation, had introduced a new satellite modem for drones.
