The most powerful magnetic storm ended after almost 70 hours.
The magnetic storm, which lasted almost 70 hours, has ended. This was announced on June 4 by scientists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
"The magnetic storm is over. Geomagnetic indexes have returned to the green zone," the laboratory said in a Telegram channel post.
The event, which lasted 66 hours, became the longest series of continuous geomagnetic disturbances and storms since April 2017.
On June 1, Sergey Bogachev, head of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the IKI RAS, said that the plasma cloud ejected by the Sun during the flare reached the Earth. Then the scientist warned about the risk of fifth-level magnetic storms by the evening of the same day. Later, on June 3, the institute announced that the duration of magnetic storms on Earth had reached 48 hours.
