The head of Rospotrebnadzor named the causes of mass poisoning in schools

Cases of mass poisoning in educational institutions are solely the fault of staff who violate sanitary rules. On June 3, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, told Izvestia about this.

"Now, even when we see some kind of complication, some kind of group morbidity, it is always associated with staff in an organized team. Or maybe someone didn't say they were feeling unwell, came in and started working, even though they were supposed to let you know. Or suddenly someone was replaced by a person without a medical examination. And in this case, problems always occur," Popova said.

The head of the department denied suggestions about the technical causes of poisoning. According to her, there are no problems with outdated equipment in schools today, such as stoves that do not keep the temperature or faulty refrigerators. Popova noted: This was made possible by the implementation of the presidential program to provide hot meals to elementary school students.

Popova clarified that the project provided for bringing all school food halls in line with sanitary standards. A lot of work has also been done: the equipment has been updated, the dining rooms have been expanded, and the number of seats has been increased. Although the program concerned the primary school, the modernization affected the entire school infrastructure.

According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor, the current academic year has shown a significant improvement in the situation. She has high hopes for the summer period. The readiness of school camps for catering is now at a fundamentally higher level compared to the situation six years ago.

On April 23, it was reported that in Yekaterinburg, after complaints about mass poisoning of children at a local school, a criminal case was opened for violating sanitary and epidemiological rules. It was noted that the investigators requested documents on the provision of catering services to schoolchildren in the cafeteria.
