Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) presented a fully electric garbage truck MAZ GTe for solid household waste removal at Comvex 2025 in Moscow. Mass production of such vehicles will begin in 2026, said Vladimir Yanushko, Deputy General Director of MAZ, Director of Marketing. Quto.ru June 3.

The MAZ GTe features an exotic 6×2-2 wheel formula — an additional thruster axle is located at the rear, solving the problem of axial loads. The model received a 20-cubic-meter body for the removal of waste weighing 10 tons. The self—designed cabin is positioned forward, has a low floor level and a high roof - you can stand tall inside.

The car uses a battery with a capacity of 256 kWh, which allows you to travel about 200 km on a single charge. This is enough to drive around the neighborhood, get to the landfill of solid household waste and return to the base, the company noted.

An electric tractor will cost about a third more than its diesel counterpart, subject to the purchase of Chinese battery cells. If MAZ manages to find more affordable batteries, the price will be lower, Yanushko said.

"Now the courtyard territories are wells where every sound is heard. Therefore, municipal equipment, including garbage trucks, should be silent: arriving, loading, leaving — a minimum of discomfort for local residents," he said.

On May 27, sales of a new Sadko 9 four-wheel drive medium-tonnage truck with a gross weight of 9 tons started in Russia. The vehicle is designed for heavy off-road conditions combined with the ability to install heavy add-ons.
