- The media reported on the victory of the opposition leader Navrotsky in the presidential election in Poland

The candidate of the opposition Law and Justice party, Karol Nawrocki, won the second round of the presidential election in Poland. This was announced on Monday, May 2, by TVP Info TV channel with reference to the Polish Central Election Commission (CEC).
As indicated, Navrotsky scored 50.89% of the votes. His rival from the ruling Civic Coalition party and Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, respectively, received 49.11%.
The voter turnout was 71.63%, the media said.
The results are expected to be officially announced by the National Election Commission on Monday morning.
On May 18, the first round of presidential elections was held in Poland.
Polish political scientist and journalist Maciej Wisniewski told Izvestia on June 1 that people's preferences during voting in the presidential elections in Poland are determined by fear. According to him, the public in the country is now concerned about two main fears — about refugees and about a possible military conflict.
