The creation of a buffer zone along the border with Ukraine is necessary to ensure the security of the Russian border regions. This was stated to Izvestia by the Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for crimes of the Kiev regime Rodion Miroshnik.

"The creation of a buffer zone is one of the main guarantees of a stable situation in the border areas. Today we see the situation in the Belgorod and Kursk regions. Ukraine is using drones in colossal numbers today, and for strikes against the civilian population," said Miroshnik.

At the same time, according to him, the exact parameters can be determined by the military, but even from a technological point of view, 7-10 km is enough to protect against mortars.

"If we are talking about artillery, it is about 30 km. Now drones also roughly fall into this category," the diplomat noted.

According to Miroshnik, it is necessary to ensure the absence of the Ukrainian military within the future buffer zone.

"The main thing is that there should be no Ukrainian military unit on this territory, because if they are present somewhere, they will definitely strike," he explained.

Earlier, on May 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to create a buffer security zone along the border of Russia and Ukraine, this task is now being solved by the Armed Forces of Russia. He added that the Russian military is actively suppressing enemy firing points, and their work is progressing.
