During a special operation conducted on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan, one of the leaders of ISIS (IS, the organization is recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation), Ozgur Altun, was detained. This was reported on June 1 by the Anadolu agency.

"During a joint operation of the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey and the Interagency Intelligence Service of Pakistan, one of the leaders of the terrorist organization DEASH (Arabic acronym for IG. — Ed.), Ozgur Altun," follows from the publication.

It is specified that Altun, also known by the code name Abu Yasir Al Turki, was responsible for the movement of militants from Europe and Central Asia to Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is also accused of preparing terrorist attacks on civilian targets in Turkey and Europe.

According to the agency, the militant was extradited to Turkey for further investigation.

Earlier, on May 12, the US Armed Forces eliminated an ISIL cell (IG, an organization recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) in the autonomous region of Puntland in the eastern part of Somalia with the help of an airstrike. At the same time, it was noted that specific information about the units or assets of the service is not disclosed to ensure the security of other operations.
