- A draft law on the abolition of the Russian language exam for some migrants has been submitted to the State Duma

The Russian government has submitted to the State Duma a bill on the abolition of the Russian language exam for some migrants. The document was published on May 31 on the website of the State Duma.
According to the bill, foreigners working under the government quota will not be required to take exams in the Russian language, Russian history and its laws when obtaining a work permit. This is done to simplify the process of attracting foreign specialists and reduce the time and cost of registration.
In addition, such a measure will better meet the needs of the economy for the right specialists.
Also, as part of the initiative, it is planned to extend the validity period of a document confirming knowledge of the Russian language for specialists from the list of professions approved by the Ministry of Labor. Due to this, the adaptation of migrants to the language will be smoother and more consistent.
On March 14, Rosobrnadzor approved the minimum number of points for successful Russian language testing by migrant children. So, you need to score three points, which will confirm compliance with the requirements for the level of knowledge of the Russian language. Testing will begin on April 1, 2025 and will be held for students entering schools from 1st to 11th grade.
