The largest mass ejection this year occurred on the Sun. The mass is directed precisely at the Earth, which is highly likely to cause very strong magnetic storms. This was announced on May 31 by Sergey Bogachev, head of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

"The largest mass ejection this year, directed precisely towards the Earth, was recorded on the Sun tonight by a combination of space tracking devices. The event was the result of a strong solar flare of the M8.2 level that occurred at 03:05 Moscow time in active region No. 4100," he said in his Telegram channel.

According to the scientist, the area located almost exactly in the center of the solar disk on the Sun–Earth line provoked a coronal ejection that is unable to pass by the planet and could lead to "the largest series of magnetic storms" this year with peaks up to G4 class, she added.Газета.Ru ".

Bogachev noted that although the emission power is lower than in May last year, when geomagnetic storms of the maximum G5 level were recorded, according to preliminary data, the current event may cause the strongest series of storms in 2025. The predicted peak is the G4 level. The probability of strengthening to G5 remains low and is estimated at 2%.

In addition, it is expected that the solar substance will reach the Earth on the evening of June 1.

Neurologist Rustem Gayfutdinov, in an interview with Izvestia on May 29, said that during the period of magnetic storms, one should not strain oneself and increase physical, mental and mental activity. According to him, during the disturbance of the Earth's magnetic field, you should get enough sleep, engage in moderate physical activity, eat a balanced diet, and avoid stress.
