The United States is close to concluding an agreement with Iran on its nuclear deal. This was announced to journalists on May 30 by the American leader Donald Trump.

"I think we have a chance to reach an agreement with Iran. <...> They would prefer to make a deal. I think this could happen in the near future — and that would be great," Trump said, speaking in the Oval Office, broadcast on the White House YouTube channel.

He added that Tehran cannot have nuclear weapons. However, the United States wants Iran to be a successful country. In his opinion, they are now quite close to a deal with Tehran.

On May 26, Trump announced that the US negotiations with Iran had been very good, and progress had been made on the nuclear deal. Prior to that, the American leader said that Washington had made it clear to Tehran that the country's nuclear weapons were unacceptable.

In turn, Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian noted on May 18 that a deal between Iran and the United States on the nuclear program is possible if the United States stops imposing its conditions and intimidating Iran.
