The expert named ways to help nature in the summer on vacation

In the summer, Russians will have a massive outdoor vacation. This is not only a pleasant pastime, but also a great responsibility. Vacationers often cause forest fires, pollution of territories and death of animals and plants. Olga Lakustova, a member of the Roshydromet Public Council for Environmental Monitoring and director of the Green Mission Foundation, told Izvestia on May 31 about how to spend time in nature in an environmentally friendly way.
The expert recommended making a bonfire on the ground if possible. According to him, there is a large selection of inexpensive folding barbecues that are convenient to take with you.
"If you are building a campfire right on the ground, you should take care of fire safety measures. First, remove all dry grass and leaves within a 50 cm radius of the fire pit. Dig a hole 20-30 cm deep and make a fire only in it. Doing this right on the ground is very dangerous. Never make a fire under trees or in strong gusts of wind," Lakustova said.
The specialist also reminded about the simplest rule of eco—friendly recreation - do not leave behind waste and garbage. According to her, this rule is violated by most vacationers. You can take garbage bags with you, in which you can put the waste and take it to the nearest dumpster.
"Do not burn plastic dishes and other waste in a campfire. When burned, it releases harmful substances into the air and thereby harms the environment. If possible, it is better not to use disposable plastic dishes at all. There are reusable plastic dishes. It is made from a different polymer, and it can last long enough if used carefully," advised the director of the Green Mission Foundation.
According to her, it is also dangerous to leave a campfire unopened. You can only leave when not a single ember is smoking. It is better to have a supply of water with you, which you can put out the fire if you do not have time to wait.
In addition, Lakustova recommended approaching animals, especially wounded ones. They can attack, or the person himself can harm them without realizing it. It is best to step aside when meeting an animal, the expert noted.
"Healthy animals are afraid of people themselves, so they shouldn't want to make contact with you. If the animal is injured, it is necessary to call the special regional services that provide assistance in such situations. Phones can be easily found on the Internet. And it's better, when going on vacation in the forest, to write them down in advance so that you can call if there are problems with the Internet," she concluded.
On May 9, Oksana Pivovarova, a professor at the Department of Therapy at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, a therapist, told Izvestia about infections transmitted through food and water in the summer. According to her, in the summer, the most dangerous diseases are salmonellosis, which is transmitted through raw eggs, meat and dairy products, as well as dysentery caused by contaminated water, unwashed vegetables and fruits.
