Absolutely summer weather: June in Central Russia will start with a heat wave

The beginning of summer in Central Russia is expected to be warm and even hot, meteorologists predict. The air may warm up to +30 degrees by the end of May, but before that it will have to experience a small wave of cooling, which will be the last this spring. The temperature in June will be close to the climatic norm, but isolated heat outbreaks are possible. Warm weather will help a good harvest of berries, tomatoes, peppers, onions, whereas the heat is dangerous for potatoes, experts noted. When the air temperature is high, it is important to monitor your well-being and drink more water, the doctors reminded.
What will the beginning of June be like
The end of May in Central Russia may be marked by temperatures reaching 30 degrees, says Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center.
— This is what is expected after a slight cold snap at the beginning of next week. We've been seeing this lately: warming, then cooling, and then warming again. And each time the thermometer gets higher," he explained. — If 25-27 degrees are expected this weekend, then +30 is quite possible next weekend.
June is expected to be warm, Alexander Shuvalov added, especially the first decade.
— So far, the forecasts give exactly this development of events. Let's hope that they will be justified," he stressed.
The onset of the so-called meteorological summer, when the average daily air temperature steadily rises above +15 degrees, is expected in Central Russia from May 27, said Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center. Thus, according to him, the change of climatic seasons will occur on time, and summer will arrive on time.
"June will not be enough stars from the sky, but it will slowly even out the climatic distortions and gradually come into its own. Previously, the average monthly temperature of the first summer month will be close to the moderate norm with a slight (no more than 0.5–1 degrees) excess," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
For Moscow, the daily temperature norm is about +22 degrees. But precipitation may be less than normal by 10-30%, said Evgeny Tishkovets. This means, according to him, that there will be many sunny days. Heat surges up to +25...+30 degrees are possible, the meteorologist added.
At the end of May, the capital region is waiting for another cold snap, but it will be short-lived, meteorologists said.
Cool weather with rains is expected on May 26-27, Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia. Before that, starting from Thursday, May 22, the weather will be determined by an anticyclone. Precipitation will stop, there will be plenty of sun and warmth. The air temperature will approach 25 degrees.
— But the last wave of coolness will be short, by the end of May in the afternoon the air temperature will return to around 25 degrees, — she assured.
What will be the early harvest?
Warm and hot weather in June will make it possible to harvest a good harvest of berry crops, as well as tomatoes and peppers, experts told Izvestia. High temperatures, if there is a reserve of moisture in the soil after winter and spring, will accelerate the development and fruiting of major crops, said Vladimir Vikulov, an agronomist and agricultural specialist.
"Honeysuckle ripens first in late May and early June, followed by early strawberry varieties, and then all the main berry crops," he explained.
The cool May with sudden frosts led to the fact that many gardeners lost the harvest of early berry and fruit trees, he noted.
— These are cherries, cherries, pears, and some varieties of apple trees that have already blossomed. Whereas it didn't have much effect on other berries. For example, currants and gooseberries are more resistant to low temperatures. And raspberries bloom later," the expert explained.
In hot summers, nightshade plants such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and onions usually show a good harvest, Vladimir Vikulov added.
— But high temperatures are harmful to potatoes. It stops the formation of tubers, the rate of weight gain slows down," he noted.
It will be much easier to compensate for the lack of moisture than its excess, the expert believes.
— In good conditions for growth, when there is a lot of sun and heat, gardeners and gardeners will help the plants with watering, then we can expect a good harvest, — he stressed.
How to take care of yourself in the heat
Hot weather can have a bad effect on the well-being of people who have health problems, the doctors reminded. People with diseases of the cardiovascular system, respiratory organs, autoimmune diseases, obese people, as well as children and the elderly are at risk, said Zarema Omarova, dermatologist, cosmetologist, co-owner of the Dr. Omarov Clinics network.
"Elevated air temperature contributes to blood clots, which increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes," she stressed. — In addition, high fever can provoke spikes in blood glucose.
Intense sweating in the heat exacerbates skin diseases such as dermatitis, fungal infections, and acne, the doctor added.
— To reduce risks, it is important to drink enough water to maintain a temperature balance, reduce physical activity, avoid direct sunlight and overheating of the body and head, — she recommended.
The body's response to a change in the weather depends on its adaptive capabilities, Olga Shuppo, founder and scientific director of the Grand Clinic network of immunorehabilitation, adaptive and preventive medicine clinics, recalled.
— They can be trained by replenishing deficiencies of vitamins and trace elements, eliminating foci of chronic inflammation in the body, adjusting the diet, sleep patterns, adding moderate physical activity in the fresh air, — said the doctor.
During a period of extreme heat, people at risk should avoid unnecessary exertion and rest more in a cool place, the doctors emphasized.
