Hot weather can pose a serious threat to motorists. The main danger lies in the dehydration of the body, which develops due to increased sweating. Alexander Umnov, a lecturer at the Department of Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, told Izvestia about this on May 30.

"Fluid loss leads to depression of consciousness and slowing of reaction, which is extremely dangerous when driving a vehicle," the specialist explained.

He noted that in hot weather it is especially important to maintain a water balance, giving preference to tea or water with lemon. Interestingly, sometimes it is more effective not to drink water, but simply to rinse your mouth — this will reduce the load on the cardiovascular system.

The expert recommended that motorists use air conditioning with caution. The fact is that a sharp temperature difference between the heat outside and the cold in the cabin can lead to a cold, especially if a person is sweating. As an alternative, the specialist suggested cooling the head with a wet handkerchief.

Umnov paid special attention to the ban on drinking coffee, energy drinks and alcohol in the heat. He specified that these drinks create an excessive load on the heart and blood vessels, which is especially dangerous in conditions of high air temperature.

Earlier, on May 17, dermatologist Zarema Omarova told Izvestia that under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, serotonin is produced in the body, which improves the emotional state. However, excessive exposure to sunlight can be harmful to health.
