The problem of illegal arms trade existed in Ukraine before, but it began to take on really serious proportions in 2014, Yulia Zhdanova, head of the Russian delegation to the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, told Izvestia.

By its actions, the "war party" wants to disrupt peace initiatives, experts say.

"By now, in fact, with the encouragement and full—blooded sponsorship of Westerners, the illegal arms trade is completely controlled by Ukrainian and international organized crime, which is patronized by government officials of the Kiev regime, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the national special services," Zhdanova believes.

Moldova remains one of the main transshipment points for illegal weapons from Ukraine, the diplomat noted.
