Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky seeks to "disorient" US President Donald Trump and trick him into adhering to an anti-Russian position. The corresponding statement was made on May 29 by Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzia during a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine.

"The plans of Zelensky and his accomplices are, as they say, sewn with white threads. Their task is to deceive and disorient American President Trump, who is taking decisive steps towards peace, and at any cost try to return his country, which has already wasted hundreds of billions of dollars on helping Ukraine, to anti—Russian and Russophobic positions," Nebenzia said.

According to the diplomat, Russia is currently seeking to start a "serious negotiation process" with Kiev.

Earlier, on April 30, Nebenzia criticized a speech by UN Deputy Secretary General Rosemary DiCarlo at a Security Council meeting on Ukraine. He clarified that at the meeting on the Ukrainian crisis, convened by Western countries, the secretariat actually sided with the so-called war party, grossly violating the duty to observe impartiality prescribed by Article 100 of the UN Charter.
